Men's Basketball Head Coach Matt Lee Elected Into New York State Basketball Hall of Fame

Herkimer Men's Basketball Head Coach Matt Lee was elected into the New York State Basketball Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2025 earlier this week.
Lee is in the midst of his 21st season and has compiled a career record of 502-139 at the helm of the Generals. He recently earned his 500th career win at Clinton Community College on Nov. 22, 2024.
During his time with the program, he has won 10 Mountain Valley Conference Championships, eight Region III Championships and has made 10 NJCAA Division III National Tournament Appearances, where he guided the Generals to their second-ever National Championship in 2019.
"Having worked alongside Coach Lee for over 20 years, I can confidently say that this recognition is a testament to his unwavering dedication, passion, and impact on the game of basketball and Herkimer College. His induction into the New York State Basketball Hall of Fame not only honors his remarkable career as a coach but also highlights the countless lives he has influenced both on and off the court," said Herkimer County Community College Dean of Students and Athletic Director Don Dutcher. "As our Assistant Athletic Director, his leadership and commitment to excellence have been an inspiration to our entire athletic program. We couldn't be prouder to celebrate this well-deserved honor."
In 2007, he received the prestigious SUNY Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Professional Service. He is a three-time Region III Coach of the Year and was named the CCBNY Junior College Coach of the Year in 2017. Lee has coached nine NJCAA All-Americans and players who have competed at the NCAA Division I level and professionally.
The Hall of Fame ceremony will be held on Sunday, April 13th at the Hilton Hotel in Troy, NY. Tickets for the event are $200.00 per person.
