Salamone takes singles, Budd and Garret take doubles in Delhi
DELHI, NY – Improving as the season has gone along, the Herkimer Generals men's tennis team had their best showing Sunday (4/24) at SUNY Delhi, winning fourth singles and first doubles.
Playing in the fourth flight of singles was Vincent Salamone (Oneida, NY). The freshman got his first win of the season defeating Broncos Patrick Raczkowski 6-1, 7-5.
That momentum then carried over to the first flight of doubles, where Brendon Budd (Norwich, NY) and Branden Garrett (Deerfield, NY) took their second straight set in consecutive matches 8-5. The group defeated Delhi's Nate Backus and Masaya Tanabe.
The Generals will look to keep that momentum going on Friday (4/29) when they host Mohawk Valley in their first home match since April 13th. The tennis team had competed in six consecutive away matches which spanned 11 days. Friday's match is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. in East Herkimer at the Sports Complex.
