Budd takes first flight of singles against Hawks

UTICA, NY – Getting one of their home matches changed to away last minute due to rain, the Herkimer Generals men's tennis program traveled to play Mohawk Valley in Utica, NY on Friday (4/29), losing to the Hawks 7-1.

Winning the one game for the Generals was Brendon Budd (Norwich, NY). The freshman got his first win of the season, defeating Mohawk's Matthew Larkin 8-4. Larkin previously7-5, 6-4 in their last pairing. Budd is now 1-7 on the season in the first flight.

Also doing well in singles was Branden Garrett (Deerfield, NY) and Brice Jacobs (Munnsville, NY). Garrett took four games while Jacobs took five.

Herkimer's final match of the regular season is Saturday (4/30). They'll face #10 SUNY Broome for the second time, hosting them at East Herkimer Sports Complex in East Herkimer, NY at 2 p.m.
