Generals lose final match to #10 Hornets, ends regular season
HERKIMER, NY – Building momentum in their last three road matches, the Herkimer Generals men's tennis team hosted their second match of the season against #10 SUNY Broome on Saturday (4/30). After seven games, the Hornets came out on top, defeating the Generals 7-0.
Playing well for Herkimer (0-9) was Brendon Budd (Norwich, NY), Jared Vibbert (Oneida, NY) and Vincent Salamone (Oneida, NY). Budd did his best work in singles, from the first flight, going three sets with Broome's Andrew Emmons before losing 4-6, 7-6 (4), 6-1. Budd then joined with Brice Jacobs (Munnsville, NY) to take three in doubles.
In the second flight of doubles, that's where Vibbert and Salamone did their best. Both freshman took five from Broome's Tyler Klossner and Sean King, losing 8-5.
