Tyler Phillips named NJCAA DIII National Player of the Week
HERKIMER, NY - Freshman short stop Tyler Phillips, Hancock, NY, was named National Player of the Week in the NJCAA for his play in eight games last week. He helped his team improve to 15-5, winning seven of eight games played.
Phillips, a Liberal Arts & Sciences: Generals Studies major at Herkimer College, went 15-for-22 against Schenectady County Community College and Clinton Community College. His .680 average helped him score 13 runs and collect eight RBIs. Additionally, he had three walks, two stolen bases and three doubles.
Phillips Head Coach is Jason Rathbun. Rathbun stated, "Tyler has proven very early in his college career that he is an impact player. He is a great athlete with a very strong understanding of the game. His mental toughness is something we are so impressed by. We are so proud of him so far and really look forward to watching him grow over his two years here."
