Herkimer Baseball Ranked Pre-Season #3 by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper

The national publication of Collegiate Baseball Newspaper was presented to thousands of coaches at the American Baseball Coaches Association in Orlando Florida this past weekend. Herkimer baseball was featured multiple times in the publication.

The paper contains rankings for every level of amateur baseball and the Generals were ranked #3 in the pre-season division III Junior College preview. Also featured was players to watch for across all of Junior College baseball where Herkimer had six players listed as players to watch for. Freshman All American's Tyler Phillips (Hancock, NY) and Patrick Merryweather (Baldwinsville, NY) were listed along with freshman 1st Team All Region selections catcher John Boland (Rhinebeck, NY) and Jacob Shortslef (Hannibal, NY). Returning starter Eric Downey (Colonie, NY) was listed along with freshman standout Pat Dorrian (Kingston, NY).

Also featured in the publication was an article on former General Shinnosuke Takahashi who was drafted by the Japanese Professional Baseball League. Former General baseball players Brandon Overstreet was listed as a player to watch at the NCAA DII level for Erskine College in South Carolina. The 29th pre-season ranked team in NCAA DI St. Johns Red Storm also featured information on former General Joe Kuzia who was also listed as a player to watch for the upcoming spring.
