Malave hits his way to NJCAA National Player of the Week
HERKIMER, NY – Herkimer Generals baseball player Christian Malave was named NJCAA DIII National Baseball Player of the Week on Thursday (4/16), helping the Generals remain nationally ranked throughout the current season.
Malave - a resident of Milford, CT - helped the Generals score 56 runs last week, outscoring opponents by 33 runs. The first baseman was a big part of that, driving in 10 runs thanks to one double and two home runs, leading the team in that category with four home runs in 43 at-bats. That's not it however as the freshman also scored six runs, going 10-for-13 at the plate which is a .769 batting average.
"Christian is a talented player, and a welcomed edition to our team," said Head Baseball Coach Jason Rathbun. "He's exceeded our expectations thus far, and we look forward in watching him develop to be a better player for us these next two seasons."
