Terashima adds Marucci Elite Hitter Award to resume
HERKIMER, NY – Herkimer Generals baseball player Taishi Terashima was selected for the NJCAA DIII Marucci Elite Hitter Award on Thursday (6/5), given to the player with the highest batting average in their district who was an All-Region member and All-American nominee.
Terashima, an outfielder for the Generals, led the nation with 82 runs scored. Helping the Hiranai, Japan native to those totals was a .548 batting average in March, .492 in April and .397 in May. Added to this, Terashima walked 24 times and was hit by a pitch 15, advancing into scoring position with 21 stolen bases on 24 tries, good enough for a .875 efficiency. He was perfect at the plate in eight games, collecting at least two hits but no more than four in 21 at-bats.
"Taishi was one of the best leadoff hitters in the country this season, and I'm glad he was recognized for this award," said Head Baseball Coach Jason Rathbun.
