Herkimer concludes their season in Region III playoffs

Herkimer, NY-- It was the eighth inning rally from Erie CC which halted the Herkimer Generals season. Herkimer captured the early lead from an error committed by Erie 1-0 in the first inning. More runs trickled in throughout the game from the Generals; two in the fourth, two in the sixth, and three in the seventh. Herkimer was just one run from ending the game early by win of the mercy rule in the bottom of the seventh, 8-1 with two runners left on base and less than two outs.
Erie rallied in the eighth hitting base hit after base hit. In one inning the Kats batted around the lineup producing 3 singles, 2 doubles, 2 walks and 2 HBP. This rally was enough to finish the game ahead 9-8 and advance to the Region III championship.
Herkimer's 2017 season is finished and includes some memorable moments. Head Coach Jason Rathbun earned his 400th career win versus Fulton Montgomery 12-1 earlier this season. Outfielder and three-hitter Brandon Hubbard (Rockville, MD) was named Region III player of the week May 2nd, for helping the Generals to a 5-1 record that week in their offensive attack. In the six games Hubbard hit .650 with 8 doubles, 1 home run, 12 runs batted in and 8 runs scored.
