Dorrian and McLean Jr. make All-Region Team
HERKIMER, NY – The Herkimer Generals men's basketball team saw Patrick Dorrian and Anquan McLean Jr. get selected to the All-Region Team in February. Dorrian made it to the first team, while McLean Jr. was a second team selection.
Dorrian – a Liberal Arts & Sciences: General Studies major at Herkimer College – helped the Generals to another regional playoff appearance, coming one game short from getting the opportunity to win the Region III Tournament a fourth year in a row, getting eliminated in the semifinals. Dorrian led the No. 1 seed in points scored through 28 games from November (2015) to February (2016). A big part of his game was stretching defenses with his three-point shooting, making the second most in the region, going 83-for-231 which helped the sophomore average 14.0 points per game. His best shooting display came against SUNY Adirondack at home where he scored a season-high 27 points. Dorrian went 6-for-10 (60 percent) from three-point land and 10-for-17 (59 percent) from the field. Dorrian scored over 20 points in a game eight times for the Generals.
McLean Jr. – a Business: Sports & Recreation major at Herkimer College – played in five less games than Dorrian (23), but worked his way into the regular rotation as the season progressed. The freshman finished the season almost averaging a double double in every game, making a name for himself on the boards, ranking second in the region in offensive rebounds (114) and seventh in defensive rebounds (140) for the third most rebounds overall (254). As a result, the forward complied 10 double doubles on the season, tallying an impressive 21 rebounds in one game against Tompkins Cortland Community College in November.
