Herkimer NY- The #2 ranked Herkimer Generals hosted the Corning CC Red Barons and Finger Lakes CC Lakers this weekend.
On Saturday, the Generals and Red Barons were tied after 20 minutes 21-21. The Generals were able to regroup in the second half to outscore the Red Barons 40-26 en route to a 61-47 victory.
The Generals were led by Sophomore Keyshawn Miller (Yonkers, NY), Jayden Stephens (Yonkers, NY), and freshman Zyeir Lawrence (Oneonta, NY). Miller had 17 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals, Stephens had 11 points, 3 rebounds and 8 assists and Lawrence finished the night with 12 points, 8 rebounds and 2 blocks.
On Sunday, the Generals once again had a back and forth first half; leading the Lakers at the half 27-24. However, they again used a strong second half to stifle the Lakers. The Generals outscored the Lakers 40-19 in the second half and went on to win 67-43.
Sophomore Shykell Brown (Rochester, NY) went off for 22 points, hitting 5 three pointers. In addition, he added 3 rebounds, 2 assist and 1 steal on the day. Jayden Stephens went for a double-double including 14 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists and 1 block.
The 4-0 Generals are back in action this week for 3 games. They travel to Jefferson CC Thursday (11/18), Broome CC Saturday (11/20) and return home Sunday (11/21) to take on MVCC.
