No. 4 Herkimer Men's Basketball Ends 2024 with Win over SUNY Broome
The No. 4 ranked Herkimer Men's Basketball team improved to 8-1 on the season with an 85-70 victory over SUNY Broome on Sunday.
The Generals set the tone early, outscoring SUNY Broome 44-31 in the first half and maintaining their lead throughout the game.
Tajuan Thomas led the way for Herkimer with a dominant performance, finishing with a game-high 18 points and 11 rebounds for his first double-double of the season. He also added 3 assists and 2 steals in an all-around effort.
Freshman Kenny Freeman (Rochester, NY) was a key contributor as well, scoring 16 points on 7-of-15 shooting while grabbing 6 rebounds and recording 3 steals and 5 blocks. Sophomore Jayson McGhee (New Rochelle, NY) provided a spark with 16 points and 4 assists.
Sophomore AJ Burnett (Syracuse, NY) chipped in with 9 points and 2 rebounds off the bench, helping Herkimer maintain their offensive rhythm.
The Generals shot 43% from the field and knocked down 10 three-pointers, helping them stay ahead of SUNY Broome. On defense, they forced 18 turnovers and recorded 6 blocks, limiting Broome's ability to get within single-digits.
