The Herkimer Generals Men's Basketball team put on a dominant performance Wednesday night, pulling away in the second half to secure an 81-50 victory over North Country Community College.
The Generals (19-3, 11-1) held a slim 34-32 lead at halftime before exploding for 47 second-half points while holding the Saints to just 18. Strong defensive pressure and dominant rebounding fueled Herkimer's surge, extending their conference-winning streak.
Leading the charge was freshman Xavier Cardona (Staten Island, NY), who had a near-perfect night, scoring a game-high 21 points on 10-for-13 shooting while grabbing 10 rebounds. Sophomore Oladele Oladitan (Staten Island, NY) controlled the paint with a double-double of 13 points and 16 rebounds, along with six assists. Freshman Kenny Freeman (Rochester, NY) was a force inside, adding 13 points on 6-of-8 shooting.
Herkimer's depth was on full display as nine players contributed to the scoring column. Sophomore Jayson McGhee (New Rochelle, NY) chipped in 11 points and seven rebounds, while sophomores Jessie Kilian (Queens, NY) and Jayden Norris (St. Louis, MO) combined for 13 points and six assists.
