Michael Iannelli Inducted into 2025 NJCAA Soccer Hall of Fame
Herkimer College is proud to recognize former standout student-athlete Michael Iannelli on his induction into the 2025 NJCAA Men’s Soccer Hall of Fame. Iannelli’s legacy remains one of the most accomplished and dominant in the history of Generals athletics.
Herkimer College is proud to recognize former standout student-athlete Michael Iannelli on his induction into the 2025 NJCAA Men's Soccer Hall of Fame. Iannelli's legacy remains one of the most accomplished and dominant in the history of Generals athletics.
During his time at Herkimer, Iannelli played a pivotal role in leading the Men's Soccer program through the 1995 and 1996 seasons, serving as a two-year captain and anchoring one of the most successful teams in NJCAA history.
Across his two seasons, the Generals achieved a remarkable 49-0-0 overall record, capturing back-to-back NJCAA Division III National Championships. As a defender, Iannelli contributed on both ends of the field, recording 14 goals and 13 assists, while providing leadership and consistency to a championship-caliber back line.

Following his Herkimer career, Iannelli continued competing at the NCAA Division I level after earning an athletic scholarship to West Virginia University, where he completed his bachelor's degree in physical education.
Iannelli received his Hall of Fame award at the 2025 NJCAA Men's Soccer National Tournament Banquet. Reflecting on his journey, he shared:
"What I remember most is the people — the teammates who became family, Coach Nizzi who pushed us to be our best, and the countless moments that shaped who I am today. This honor belongs to all of us. We built something special that still means so much."
