Generals Finish Track and Field Season at Nationals
The Generals finished its historic 2022-23 track and field season at the NJCAA National Championships held at Mohawk Valley Community College.
UTICA, NY -- The Generals finished its historic 2022-23 track and field season at the NJCAA National Championships held at Mohawk Valley Community College.
The women's team finished 12th place with 25 points while the men's team finished 14th place with 14 points.
Amelia Bowman-McCoy (Oneida, NY) paced Herkimer with a second-place finish in the 3,000M Steeplechase and a fourth-place finish in the 800M. The 4 x 800 relay team (Bowman-McCoy, Madison Altamura, Breanna Millson, Lydia Reimer) also finished in third place.
Avion Harris (Niagara Falls, NY) led the men with a second-place finish in the 3,000M Steeplechase. He led during the whole race up until the final turn when DuPage's Sheldon Powell ran his fastest splits of the event to overtake him to secure first place. It was Harris's fourth time ever racing in the 3,000M Steeplechase.
He was named an All-American for the second consecutive season.
Brian Reile (Herkimer, NY) ended his phenomenal freshman season with seventh-place finishes in both the High Jump and 110M Hurdles.
