Nicoletti named National Pitcher of the Week
HERKIMER, NY – Herkimer's Dana Nicoletti, a starting pitcher for the Herkimer Generals softball team, was named NJCAA DIII National Pitcher of the Week on Thursday (4/23).
Nicoletti – a resident of Syracuse, NY – helped the Generals to a perfect 3-0 record last week in three games pitched. The freshman allowed two runs in 16 innings, good enough for a 0.88 earned run average. Added to this, Nicoletti only allowed five hits and struck out 27 batters faced, currently seventh in the nation in strike outs per game (7.37).
"I am extremely proud of Dana and excited she was recognized by the NJCAA for her talents," said Herkimer Generals Head Softball Coach P.J. Anadio. "While I'm ecstatic for the honor she received, by no means am I surprised. She is one of the hardest working and most talented young ladies I have ever had in our program and she is merely reaping what she has sown!"
