Herkimer Softball Drops Doubleheader at Corning
Herkimer Softball dropped both games of a road doubleheader Saturday at Corning Community College.
In Game 1, the Generals jumped out to a 6-1 lead after two innings. Corning responded with 11 unanswered runs to take the win, 12-6.
Aubrey Lewis went 3-for-4 for Herkimer. Jessica Zalucki scored twice and stole a base. Kimora Brown had an RBI double. Kyndra Sequin and Yetnelyz Lugo-Mateo each added an RBI. Kerrigan Crysler pitched all six innings and struck out nine.
Game 2 was all Corning. The Red Barons scored seven in the first and tacked on 14 more in the third. Herkimer rallied for five runs in the fifth but it wasn't enough, falling 28-7.
Kerrigan Crysler had two hits and an RBI. Kimora Brown and Alexis Broderick each drove in a run. Yetnelyz Lugo-Mateo added two hits. Aubrey Lewis started in the circle and took the loss. Emma Carlton pitched in relief.
With the sweep, Herkimer falls to 2-12 on the season. The Generals look to regroup heading into their next series.
