Generals Fall in Pitching Duel Before Dropping Slugfest Against Monroe

Alexis Broderick led the Generals offensively on the day, collecting six hits and driving in five runs across the two contests, while Olivia Perry delivered two complete-game efforts in the circle.
Game One: Monroe 3, Herkimer 0
The opening game featured a strong pitching performance from both sides, but Monroe was able to generate just enough offense to secure the victory.
Monroe took the lead in the bottom of the second inning when Burk connected on a solo home run to center field.
The Generals struggled to break through against Monroe starter Derock, who allowed just two hits over seven scoreless innings while striking out nine.
Perry matched the strong pitching performance, allowing three runs on seven hits over six innings while striking out nine and walking four.
Herkimer's offense was led by Grace Neville and Emma Powers, who each recorded a hit. Perry reached base twice with two walks, and the Generals showed patience at the plate by drawing four walks as a team.
The Generals played clean defense, committing no errors, with Broderick handling a team-high 10 chances.
Game Two: Monroe 14, Herkimer 13
The second game turned into an offensive battle with both teams trading leads throughout the afternoon before Monroe scored late to secure the win.
Herkimer jumped out quickly in the first inning. Broderick started the scoring with an RBI single, Perry followed with a run-scoring walk, and Neville added an RBI single to give the Generals a 3-0 lead.
Monroe answered with a grand slam in the third inning to take a 4-3 advantage, but Herkimer responded immediately.
The Generals exploded for five runs in the bottom of the third, highlighted by Broderick's three-run triple, to reclaim the lead at 8-4.
After Monroe tied the game in the fourth, Herkimer regained the advantage when Autumn Roberts delivered an RBI double to make it 9-8.
The back-and-forth battle continued as Monroe pulled ahead 11-9 in the sixth inning, but the Generals once again fought back. Roberts tripled home two runs, Kelly drew a bases-loaded walk, and Broderick added a sacrifice fly as Herkimer surged ahead 13-11.
Monroe, however, rallied in the seventh inning, scoring three runs to take the lead and eventually earn the 14-13 victory.
Broderick had a monster performance at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with a triple, two singles, and five RBIs. Roberts also collected three hits and drove in five runs.
The Generals showed tremendous plate discipline, drawing 16 walks in the game. Molter and Kelly led the team with three walks each. Herkimer also stole six bases and played another error-free game defensively.
Perry went the distance in the circle, striking out nine while allowing 14 runs, 13 earned, on 19 hits.
Monroe finished with 19 hits, led by Derock's five RBIs. Burk, Kohlmeier, Morrissette, and Miles each recorded three hits for the Tribunes.
Despite the losses, the Generals continued to show their competitiveness, combining strong pitching, aggressive offense, and flawless defense in a pair of hard-fought games against Monroe Community College.
