After a long layoff over the Thanksgiving break, the Herkimer Generals returned to the court facing a tough test against NJCAA Division II Westchester Community College.
The opening quarter set the tone for a defensive battle, as both teams struggled to find an offensive rhythm. Westchester held a narrow 11–10 lead at the end of the first quarter, and the low-scoring trend continued throughout much of the first half with neither side able to create separation.
Looking for a spark coming out of halftime, both teams increased the tempo in the third quarter. Westchester's full-court pressure proved to be the difference, as the Lady Vikings forced turnovers and limited Herkimer to just seven points in the period. Westchester outscored the Generals 19–7 in the third quarter to build a double-digit advantage heading into the final frame.
Herkimer made a late push in the fourth quarter, but Westchester was able to control the pace down the stretch and secure a 12-point victory.
Amiya Carter led the Generals with 11 points in the contest.
