Herkimer Women basketball notched a key Region 3 win on the road versus Tompkins Cortland on Saturday, 74-54. Herkimer's offense was led by Freshman guard Amiya Carter (Newark, NJ) as she tallied 27 points, while also grabbing 9 rebounds in the win.

After the first quarter, the Generals were tied 11-11 despite a cold opening quarter from the field. In the second half, the scoring would open up behind 14 points in the quarter from Carter, including three 3 pointers. Herkimer would create a number of turnovers, but fail to capitalize, allowing TC3 to remain even, as both teams went into the half tied 27-27.
In the second half, Herkimer came out hot, beyond four consecutive buckets from 6'1 Center Junel Beaubrun (Brooklyn, NY) who would finish with 14 points, and a big three pointer by Freshman Molly Rifanburg (Edmeston, NY) to jump out to a 13-0 run. The Generals would score 29 points in the quarter, its best showing of the year, while generating 7 turnovers and creating fast break opportunities.
Herkimer would continue to stretch the lead in the fourth, with a strong defensive effort. The win moves Herkimer to 3-1 in the region for the year. They return to the court on Sunday, December 7 to face off with SUNY Broome in another Region 3 affair.
