The Generals get Second Road Win of the Weekend at SUNY Broome
Herkimer capped off a two-game regional weekend with a dominating win over SUNY Broome on Sunday, 88-42. For the second straight game, Freshman guard Amiya Carter (Newark, NJ), led the Generals scoring with a 24 pt, 10 reb effort.
Herkimer pounced on the SUNY Broome Hornets right from the opening tip, leaning on a suffocating defense to jump off to a 20-2 lead half-way through the first quarter. Capitalizing on fast break opportunities, the visitors would take a 30-11 lead into the second quarter, and eight different players would score in the first 10 minutes.
The 30-point quarter, Herkimer's highest quarter of the season, provided momentum into the second, where they would score 22, behind seven points from Carter and six from Freshman Guard Ava Nicholson (Brooklyn, NY). The Generals would lead at the half 52-20.
Herkimer would continue to be relentless, and push SUNY Broome to the end. Freshman Nevaeh Spencer (Brooklyn, NY) filled the box score, with 12 pts, 11 reb, 7 assists and 6 steals to fill the box score. Sophomore Guard Angelina Deitz (Schnectady, NY) would tally 9 points, and Sophomore Guard Mariah Freeman added 7 points and 7 rebounds in the win.
The Generals return to the court on 12/13 to host Finger Lakes Community College in a region match-up at 1 p.m. before finishing the semester versus Monroe Bronx on Sunday, 12/14.
