On Saturday, Herkimer looked to get back into the win column as they headed west to face off against Finger Lakes Community College in an extra scheduled, non-region matchup. The Generals came out hot to start the game to help lead them to a 77-49 win to improve their record to 12-9.
Herkimer jumped on Finger Lakes with its full court pressure, grabbing and converting on steals to give Herkimer an 18-3 lead at one point. Herkimer would push that lead to 51-29 at the break, as Finger Lakes continued to fight. The Generals would struggle in the third to get the ball to go through the net, but relied on its defense. Finger Lakes chipped away, but in the fourth, three pointers by Ava Nicholson (Brooklyn) and Brin Whiteman (Cherry Valley), allowed the Generals to break away for a comfortable win.
Herkimer scoring was led by Freshman Nevaeh Spencer (Brooklyn) who had 22 pts, 11 reb, 5 assts, and 5 steals for a stat stuffing performance. Amiya Carter (Newark, NJ) added 14 pts, and Nicholson and Jordan Bellinger (Oneonta) both added 11 points for the Generals.
