Generals Roll Past SUNY Adirondack 99-27 on Sophomore Day

On Saturday, Herkimer Women's Basketball improved to 15-10 on the season following a convincing victory over Mountain Valley Conference opponent, SUNY Adirondack, 99-27.
Celebrating three Sophomores, Angelina Deitz (Schnectady), Mariah Freeman (Rochester), and Monaysia Garret (Canajoharie), Herkimer started off the game with a ceremonial layup for Freeman, who had a season-ending knee injury a couple weeks ago. Herkimer never looked back, as they jumped out to a convincing 29-9 lead after the 1st quarter.
Throughout the game, Herkimer was able to establish an offensive presence inside and out, with effective ball movement and fast-break opportunities from steals on the defensive end. FreshmanCenter Junel Beaubrun (Brooklyn), had the biggest day with 17 pts and 10 rebounds. Deitz would add 15 pts, including 3 three's, while Freshman Nevaeh Spencer (Brooklyn) added 12 pts and Freshman Brin Whiteman (Cherry Valley) also scored in double digits, finishing with 11. Freshman Taylor Hayes (St. Johnsville) added a career high 9 points and 13 rebounds.
For the first time all season, all 12 players on the Herkimer roster contributed to the final score. Herkimer returns to the court tomorrow to take on Division 2 opponent Westchester Community College.
