Generals Fall to Westchester in Regular Season Home Finale

On Sunday, Herkimer hosted its final home game of the season, facing off against Division 2 Westchester in a rematch from earlier in the season. The Vikings would prove to be too much with hot shooting and impressive energy to take the 85-60 win over the Generals.
In the first half, Herkimer controlled most of the tempo, handling the press and running effective offense with great ball movement. Herkimer would hit four threes, including two from Freshman Amiya Carter (Newark, NJ), and Freshman Center Junel Beaubrun (Brooklyn) would hit on all three of your post moves to carry the offense in the first quarter. In the second, the Generals had seven different players score, and were tied with 1:30 remaining in the half until the Vikings hit two big three-pointers to give them the momentum and a 7 point lead going into the half.
In the 2nd half, just like the first match-up, Westchester came out hot, scoring 24 points to Herkimer's 10 to give them a 21 point lead that Herkimer couldn't overcome. The Generals fought hard in the fourth, hitting three shots from behind the arc, but ultimately fell to their Division 2 foe.
Carter led all scorers with 22 points and 7 rebounds, while Beaubrun scored 10 pts and snagged 13 rebounds for the Generals. Ava Nicholson (Brooklyn) would also tally 8 points for Herkimer.
The Generals return to action on Wednesday, February 18 when they hit the road to take on North Country in an important Region 3 and Mountain Valley Conference matchup.
