Herkimer College’s Yetnelyz Lugo-Mateo Earns National and Regional Honors

Herkimer, NY – September 25th, 2025 – Herkimer College women's soccer standout Yetnelyz Lugeo-Mateo has been named the 2025 NJCAA Division III Women's Soccer Player of the Week and the NJCAA Region 3 Athlete of the Week for September 9–16.

Yetnelyz, a native of Utica, New York, was crucial to the Generals' offense this past week. She registered five shots on goal while tallying four goals and two assists, helping power the team to both a draw and a victory.

Her consistent scoring presence and playmaking ability proved vital in securing results for the Generals, further establishing her as one of the team's key offensive threats this season.  Head coach Damon Neish had this to say about Yetnelyz "Time and time again Yetnelyz has shown she's not only the ultimate teammate, but an absolute monster of a soccer player.  Yeti continues week after week to be a shining star in NJCAA college soccer and we are delighted we will get to share these honors with Yetnelyz for rest of the year."
