Allison Ball Goes 2-0 as Women's Tennis Falls to Hudson Valley CC
The Herkimer Generals Women's Tennis team traveled to Troy, NY for a Region III matchup against Hudson Valley Community College (HVCC), ultimately falling 7-2.
Singles Play
Herkimer managed one singles win on the day, with third-flight player Allison Ball delivering a commanding 6–1, 6–1 victory over HVCC's Abigayle Yetto. Ball was locked in from the first serve, providing a bright spot for the Generals.
Other singles flights proved tougher. Julia Hight (first flight) and Ava Williams (second flight) both battled but fell to HVCC's Jocelyn Richter and Katie Ziegler, respectively. Williams kept the second set tight before dropping it 7–5. In the fourth and fifth flights, Sarah Davis and Sydney Schell were unable to turn the tide, each losing in straight sets.
The sixth flight was not played.
Doubles Play
In doubles, Herkimer claimed one of the two completed matches. Williams and Ball teamed up for a strong 6–2, 6–3 win in the second flight, showing chemistry and control throughout the match.
HVCC took the first doubles flight with Richter and Ziegler defeating Schell and Davis in a shutout, 6–0, 6–0. The third doubles match was not contested.
Final Score: Hudson Valley CC 7, Herkimer 2
Despite the loss, Herkimer showed resilience, especially with solid showings from Ball in both singles and doubles.
