Geisler's Career-High 29 Points Propels Generals Over Finger Lakes
The Herkimer College women's basketball team continued their strong start to the season with a 60-45 win over Finger Lakes Community College. The Generals leaned on tough defense, solid rebounding, and key contributions from their top players to come away with the victory.
Sophomore Sage Geisler (Queens, NY) had an outstanding game, leading all scorers with 29 points while adding five steals and two assists. Geisler's aggressive play and ability to get to the free-throw line were crucial in keeping the Generals in control.
Freshman Kavashia Archie (Utica, NY) added a dominant double-double with 14 points and 14 rebounds while also picking up five steals and three blocks to help Herkimer lock things down defensively. It was Archie's fourth career double-double in her first five games.
Herkimer's defense was a difference-maker, holding Finger Lakes to just 27.7% shooting from the field and only 13% from beyond the arc. The Generals also forced 18 turnovers, turning those opportunities into points on the other end.
It was another strong showing for Herkimer, who continues to find ways to win with a balanced attack and gritty defense. The Generals head on the road again, this time playing SUNY Orange on Tuesday at 6:00 PM.
