The Herkimer Generals celebrated Sophomore Day on Saturday, recognizing the contributions of nine second-year players prior to kickoff against St. John Fisher's JV squad. Honored for their dedication and impact on the program were Ava Williams, Ava Marcolin, Sidney Gillogly, Mariah Hazzard, Dakota Shepherd, Yetnelyz Lugo-Mateo, Paige Trevisani, Paige Will, and Jenna Backes. Coach Neish led the ceremony, thanking the group for their two years of commitment to the team.
Once play began, the Generals struck early as Taylor Hayes fired home the equalizer to level the match. However, the Cardinals responded with three unanswered goals to take control at 4–1. Herkimer continued to fight, with Yetnelyz Lugo-Mateo netting a late goal to narrow the gap, but the comeback effort came up short in a 4–2 final.
The Generals will be back on the road for their next matchup against the SUNY Oneonta Club team on October 12th, 2025.
