Rose Scores 100th Career Point in Win Over Hudson Valley CC
The Herkimer Generals Men's Lacrosse team delivered a commanding performance on Monday, defeating Hudson Valley Community College 26-2 on the road. With the win, the Generals improved their record to 10-4 and will head into Wednesday's season-finale at Elmira College riding a wave of momentum.
The Generals set the tone early out of the gate with 11 goals in the first quarter alone. Herkimer led 20-2 at halftime and didn't let up, adding six more goals in the second half while holding the Vikings scoreless over the final 30 minutes.
Sophomore Chris Rose highlighted the day with a historic milestone, recording his 100th career point as part of an eight-point outing. Rose scored five times and added three assists to pace a relentless Herkimer offense that saw 13 different players find the back of the net.
Ryan Hoyt and Caleb Sanjurjo each scored three goals, while Lukas Quinn, Jordan Fox, and Derek Roberts added two apiece. Owen Pierce and Eric Attleson also registered multiple goals, and Casey Ryan led all players with three assists. Herkimer finished with 59 total shots compared to just 15 from Hudson Valley.
Defensively, the Generals dominated every facet of the game. Herkimer scooped up 42 ground balls and forced 40 Viking turnovers, converting defensive pressure into transition offense all afternoon. Faceoff play was closely contested, with the Generals winning 15 of 32, but Herkimer's overall possession advantage proved decisive.
The Herkimer man-down unit was perfect, killing all 10 of Hudson Valley's extra-man opportunities. On the flip side, the Generals converted 2-of-7 man-up chances with goals from Chris Rose and Airam Payton.
Additional scoring came from Wyatt Walters, Connor Flo, and Brodie Davis, while strong ball movement and unselfish play led to 13 team assists.
The Generals now turn their focus to a non-region showdown at Elmira College on Wednesday, looking to build on Monday's dominant performance and end the regular season on a high note.
