Generals Show Promise in Season-Opening Loss to Onondaga

The Herkimer Generals men's lacrosse opened the 2026 season with a matchup against Onondaga Community College Lazers men's lacrosse, falling in their season opener despite several standout individual performances.

Herkimer faced a strong Onondaga squad but showed resilience throughout the contest, competing hard from start to finish.

Leading the way defensively was Teddy Friend, who turned in an impressive performance in net with 23 saves. Friend's effort between the pipes kept the Generals within striking distance, as he consistently came up with key stops against a high-powered Lazers offense.

On the offensive end, Lenox Richard paced the Generals with three goals and one assist. Richard's ability to create scoring opportunities and finish in key moments provided a spark for Herkimer throughout the game.

While the result did not fall in their favor, the Generals showed promising signs on both ends of the field. With strong individual performances and valuable early-season experience, Herkimer will look to build and improve as the season moves forward.
