Batavia, NY – The Herkimer men's soccer team scored seven goals against Raritan Valley in the NJCAA national quarterfinal game. Sophomore Nichlas Kamfjord (Sandnes, Norway) opened up the scoring in the 7th minute off an assist from freshman Shuntaro Morimoto (Kanagawa, Japan). Sophomore Ali Somow (Utica, NY) scored five minutes later off a corner kick in the 12th minute off an assist from sophomore Yamato Fujishima (Saitama, Japan). Sophomore Rory Fisher (Glasgow, Scotland) scored in the 22nd minute off another corner kick serve from Fujishima. Somow finished off the scoring in the first half in the 38th minute off of Fujishima. Morimoto opened up the second half with a goal in the 53rd minute off an assist from Fisher. Morimoto scored again three minutes off an assist from freshman Zain Ibrahim (Manhattan, NY). Sophomore Aseong Choi (Yangsan, South Korea) scored the final goal for the Generals in the 68th minute off an assist from sophomore Shiko Ichimiya (Tokyo, Japan).
Freshman Cathal Carney (Springfield, Massachusetts) recorded three saves in 70 minutes of play. Sophomore Jon Bovair recorded two saves in 20 minutes of action conceding one goal.
The Generals advanced to the national semifinal game where they will face Genesee on Friday, November 11th.
